Once we hit
Mission Beach the sun burst through the clouds, and the skies were once again
blue. All the drama and regret that filled our souls in Tully Gorge was
cleansed. The All Aussie Adventure road trip was BACK ON!
We set up
camp, got the solar panels charging the battery, applied some water proofer to
the tent and laughed at our weaker, former selves for doubting our camping
ability. What a bunch of fucking LOSERS they were! Bushman Tom was back.
All good |
Although we
were in a private caravan park, we got a good spot in the open. The space we
needed to sort out our gear and get our shit in order.
After a short walk around the “town”, we
bought some food to make cheese toasties and headed back to camp.
The next
day we woke to blue skies. Everything was perfect, even the numerous young
backpackers couldn’t ruin my mood.

We spent
the morning washing clothes and tidying the car, before heading off for some
lunch, a wander around town and then onto the important task of Cassowary spotting.
Cassowary hunting is serious business |
We came to this area 10 years ago, when we travelled
up from Sydney. It had changed quite a bit since then, and we spent some time
wandering about commenting about how things were different back then.
One thing
was the same from our last visit; we didn’t see any Cassowaries. However, we did
find evidence of one in the form of shit. Yep, we found Cassowary shit, and I
took a photo. We also saw a Kangaroo with a small head. Exciting times.

You need to stop with the 'roids, mate |
The whole area is lovely, and we found a great house we can buy, once I get my mitts on my inheritance... no rush, Mum.
We took some photos of the beach, then headed back and spent the next couple of hours repacking the car… Tomorrow we are back on the road and heading north again. We're planning a quick stop in Cairns, before heading up to Daintree NP. Nothing can stop us now, except a bit of drizzle of course.
I'll take it. Do you accept flybuys? |
Please don't rain again |
I had many trips to Mission Beach given it is so close to Tully. Glad you got the sun switched on for your visit. Keep up the good blogging!
